As knowledge acquisition, beyond the humdrum of every day life, is one of human nature’s finest qualities, the 'Lebanese-German Association for the Promotion of Culture' has founded a cultural center, the ‘Kulturzentrum’, to become a meeting ground for Germany, the German language and the people of Lebanon.

Moreover, this Kulturzentrum is also open to other cultures and languages from Europe and the rest of the world. It is turning out to be a meeting place for learning enthusiasts, a door open on the German language, through, not only the continuing education language classes, but also the result of the examination is a Diploma from the Goethe Institute, these two institutes are in collaboration to promote the German culture in Lebanon by concerts, exhibitions, conferences and film shows. The Kulturzentrum organizes as well the German traditional festivities as "Bierfest", attended by an enthusiastic Lebanese public, as well as Christmas Carol concerts enlivened with spiced wine and Stollen.

Sponsored by Germany, the Kulturzentrum’s aim is the exchange of cultures. In this century, marked by the competition amongst the media, the Kulturzentrum does its best to set up a high quality program that the German avant-garde, as well as the young Lebanese artists, use as a launching pad. In this gathering, interested people may increase their knowledge, and all those looking for contemporary development may meet and participate in the search for new shared interests.

Music! the universal language, holds an exceptional place amongst the Kulturzentrum’s cultural activities. The Kulturzentrun Aula is a tribune for internationally acknowledged soloists as well as for talented young performers seeking recognition.

Lovers of the graphic arts may appreciate German and Lebanese ‘avant-garde’ works, and discover, in particular, paintings of young artists. Thanks to the regular cultural exchange with the ‘Verein der Düsseldorfer Künstlerinnensezession’ and the ‘Werkverband Bildender Künstler Nordrhein – Westfalen’ associations, original creations from the avant-garde German painting school, are frequently displayed.

The Kulturzentrum, in its continuous concern of promoting the Lebanese-German cultural exchange, offers also conferences of current interest, like :

Ambassadors and professors, from different countries, have presented their views during conferences and participated in lively debates at the Center.

Last but not least, week-end outings, covering seldom visited historical sites, are appreciated by both Lebanese and expatriates who relive, with the help of experienced guides, the eventful history of Lebanon.

Da der Mensch im Allgemeinen das Bedürfnis verspürt, Kenntnisse zu erwerben, die über seine engeren Lebensbedürfnisse hinausweisen, gründete die Deutsch-Libanesische Vereinigung ein Kulturzentrum als Treffpunkt mit Deutschland und der deutschen Sprache. Es ist aber darüber hinaus grundsätzlich auch offen für andere Sprachen und Kulturen in Europa und der Welt. So ist es eine Stätte der Begegnung von lernfreudigen Menschen geworden und eröffnet nicht nur durch Sprachkurse den Zugang zur deutschen Sprache im Rahmen der Erwachsenenbildung, sondern vermittelt Bildungserlebnisse durch Konzerte, Ausstellungen, Vorträge und Filmverführungen. Darüber hinaus findet hier die Pflege typisch deutscher Feste und Traditionen statt und gewinnt damit auch ein begeistertes libanesisches Publikum, denn wer möchte das Oktoberfest verpassen oder das Weihnachtskonzert mit Stollen und Glühwein?

Das Kulturzentrum, das von Deutschland unterstützt wird, sorgt für Kontinuität im Kulturaustausch und bemüht sich, auch im 21. Jahrhundert im Umfeld der konkurrierenden Medien, Programme von hoher Qualität und Vielseitigkeit zu gestalten, wobei gleichermaßen Wert darauf gelegt wird, dass nicht nur die deutsche Avant-Garde bekannt wird, sondern auch junge libanesische Künstler vorgestellt werden. Damit gibt es seinen Interessenten die Möglichkeiten, hier neue Erkenntnisse zu gewinnen.
